What a plastic & packaging quotation should include
- Your company name, factory address and PAN/VAT number.
- Buyer name and address, and what the order is for in the subject line.
- Product specification — material (HDPE, LDPE, PP), size, thickness or gauge, colour and printing.
- Rate per kg or per piece — say which, and the quantity it applies to.
- One-time charges on their own line — printing plate or cylinder, design.
- Delivery charge or "ex-factory", VAT, and the grand total in words.
- Terms — minimum order, weight tolerance (e.g. ±5%), lead time, payment terms and validity.
Tips for plastic and packaging suppliers
- Put thickness and size in every description — "HDPE carry bag, 16×20 inch, 40 micron, 2-colour print" avoids disputes on delivery.
- State the weight tolerance: bags sold by kg rarely weigh exactly the ordered amount.
- Keep the printing plate as a separate one-time line so repeat orders don't include it again.
- Give a short validity — resin prices change with the exchange rate.
