What a hardware shop bill should include
- Your shop name, address, phone and PAN/VAT number — contractors and companies need your number for their records.
- Bill number and date — numbered in sequence, with the BS date beside the AD date if your customers use it.
- Customer name and address — and their PAN for business customers buying on credit.
- Each item with its unit — pcs, bag, length, kg, ft. "PVC pipe 1 inch, 3 m" is clearer than "pipe".
- Quantity × rate = amount for every line, then subtotal, VAT 13% and grand total.
- Amount in words — in lakh and crore, ending with "Only".
- Paid / Unpaid status and due date for credit sales to contractors.
Tips for hardware & sanitary shops
- Save your common items (pipes, elbows, taps, cement) in the product library once — then add them to any bill in one tap.
- Write sizes and brands in the description (e.g. "CPVC elbow 3/4 inch, Supreme") so there are no disputes about what was supplied.
- For contractors buying on credit, mark the bill Unpaid and set a due date — with a free account, the dashboard shows what is still outstanding.
- Send the PDF on WhatsApp straight from the counter; many site engineers want it before the goods arrive.
